Learning Unit 3
This learning unit was not my favorite of the three, because I was using tools that I chose not to use in the first two. However, I was surprised by how much I did end up liking Google Earth. I am not sure how to use it in my everyday work, but I did share it with my brother and he used it in his World Presentation for his Social Studies class. I was happy with how the learning unit turned out. The only thing I would have liked to change was the lack of assignment detail. I gave them ideas, but I feel that it could have been more in-depth as Global Friends Hour presentations are more than 30 minutes long. I would have also liked to add a more in-depth example Powerpoint presentation than I did. But, overall, I was happy with this learning unit as well.
Learning Unit 2
This learning unit was relatively easy for me to make. I had to learn how to use new tools; tools that I had never used before. What I personally enjoyed about this learning unit was exploring two, new tools, that I have found personally helpful: polleverywhere.com and glogster.com. Working with international students also means working with many different interests, so finding a tool that allows the international students to vote on what they would like to do the most is very useful. I just used polleverywhere.com to choose our April outing, a baseball game. I also plan a lot of events so finding glogster.com was a godsend. I look forward to using this tool in the future in creating posters. I do wish that I had more time to think abou this learning unit to make it more applicable for next semester, but I am still very happy with it.
Learning Unit 1 Reflection
I personally enjoyed creating this learning unit, because this is a project that I have wanted to do for B-W's International Office for some time. I think everything went well, except for uploading the example video response. I tried using my home computer's video-recording program at first. But, when other students tried to view it, it would not upload. Therefore, I uploaded the video to youtube.com and only then was it easily accessible. I have never created videos before this, so I personally have enjoyed exploring video recording tools and now I know how to create videos, which will surely prove to be useful in the future.
